Ode to a Valentine

When the month of February kicks in, retailers go into Code Red with their Valentine's Day campaigns.

I for one do not like Valentine's Day.

But let me not be the Grinch that stole Valentine's cheer...

For those that do actually like Valentine's Day, I thought I'd do a few posts to highlight some non-cheesey ways to spend it.

William Shakespeare once said, "If music be the food of love, play on!" And one of the nicer ways to treat your Valentine could be a day out at a concert.

Durban is in luck as this week alone there are two big concerts taking place.

The first taking place on Friday, 6 February, which I am personally excited about, is The Script!

I have loved this band since before they were hugely famous. With songs such as "The Man Who Can't Be Moved," "Hall of Fame" and the most recent "Superheroes" is sure to be a fun and romantic evening.

Also, did you know that the video for Superheroes" was filmed in Johannesburg? Pretty cool right!

But if Pop Rock isn't your cup of tea, there's also the KIA 80's Rewind Festival happening on Saturday, 7 February at Growthpoint King's Park Stadium.

With artists such as Billy Ocean and Katrina from the group Katrina and the Waves, you'll enjoy the nostalgia that comes with the event.

So if you're looking for a great pre-Valentine's Day treat, go out and enjoy a concert, maybe even grab a bite to eat before the show at one of the many great spots that Durban has to offer.

Make a date of it!
