It amazed me that one small act can make a difference in someone's life and give a stranger hope.
This is when I decided that I wanted to do more. Be more involved in community and NGO projects.
I researched the various organisations to see when the nearest event was happening so that I could get involved. This is when I stumbled upon the Cuppa for CANSA initiative.
The Cuppa for CANSA is is an opportunity to socialise with those you care about and raise funds for a worthy cause at the same time. It is a series of high teas or mini socials where people can either buy tickets or make donations, with all funds going to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).
Even though I was quite keen to host an event in Phoenix, Durban, I was met with a few setbacks. Nevertheless, with the help of community members, family and friends, the event, though small scale, went off with a huge success.
The wonderful team at Le Creuset South Africa hosted a great competition for most inspiring Cuppa for CANSA Cuppa in South Africa and my event WON ! The French cookware company famous for their gorgeous brightly coloured cast iron and stoneware ranges bestowed this great honour on me, together with a massive R10 000 shopping spree!
My Cuppa was a small event that was meant to create awareness in the community, and it has done that and so much more.
I hope that my event will inspire many more people to host Cuppa's this year.
You can read more about my event on the Le Creuset Blog: Palette and take a look at the photos and media snaps below. #CancerCanBeBeat
